Linda Slasberg - Fine Artist
Born in a snowstorm February 1947, raised and spent most of my life living in a London suburb in England my late husband and I emigrated to US.
Why do I create art? That's a good question, one that I have been asked more than once and have asked myself more than a few times. Very basically I love it; its fun.
Mostly self taught although I attended an art club for a while where I learned some valuable lessons - I create my artwork when I have the inspiration to do something specific. I don't paint every day unless I have something I am working on that excites me. It has to mean something to me. I do not take commissions, mainly because usually I can only create a piece of artwork one time. Rarely can I repeat it. I paint for me and me alone.
It all started with making beaded jewelery about 8 years ago, after I lost my husband to Cancer. I needed something to do!! That probably sounds very strange to most people when they more than likely have too much to do!! For myself I am now over 60 and live by myself, in the middle of nowhere and do not drive!!!
Creating art for me virtually saved my sanity. It has enabled me to become more aware of my surroundings and my Spirituality. I have become a calm and peaceful person largely because of it. Although I am cut off from life, I love where I live, high on a hill with wonderful mountain views, it's quiet and peaceful.
My Mission
To continue growing Spiritually and to improve my work in whatever direction it takes me; I am now moving on with new interests and expect to combine them all in due course.
All of my artworks are available as originals.
